Other Thoughtful Ideas for Mothers Day Gifts:
1. Remember the Moment.
Whether you've just had a baby, or you're about to have a baby, there are so many moments to celebrate! Why not take a beautiful family photo and have it framed, or take a collection of photos and turn them into a photo journal.
We also love gifting a journal with special stationary and photos already printed so she can create her own scrapbook, photo album or work of art.
Of course the most important part of this is taking the picture! Make sure you plan this ahead of time and take some lovely images of her that celebrate this time of life.
2. A Sleep In (without interruption)
No really – those stock pictures of mum smiling in bed with the kids only happens after lots of sleep! Please do everything you can to help her sleep in... please for the love of sanity, let me sleep in this year! Take the kids for a walk, take the dog for a walk and leave some relaxing background music on. Only after a respectable hour (minimum 7am, but 9am would be bliss) can the kids come in for cuddles and presents.
3. A Special Breakfast
It sounds corny, but there is something rather special about having a lovely breakfast prepared and ready for you in the morning. Even just cheese and fresh croissants warmed under the grill is marvellous. Hopefully after your walk with the kids in the morning they’ll be a bit calmer and helpful in getting breakfast ready!
4. Some Child Free Time to Relax
If mornings aren’t your thing, consider setting up some lovely indulgent, interruption free time during the day or afternoon. Put that relaxing music back on, maybe fill up the bath and leave. You could even go and prepare for a special outing with you and the kids after the relaxing indulgent bath or alone time. Consider preparing a picnic, or live music at the park, or going for a walk in a natural environment – whatever you all enjoy doing as a family. Whatever you do, make sure you’re all organised so mum doesn’t have to lift a finger – get the kids ready, organise bags and food and keep it relaxing and light hearted
5. A Letter from You and Your Kids
There is nothing nicer than a letter from loved ones to tell someone how much you love them and how special they are. You can even find a poem online that resonates for some extra inspiration.
If you have young kids it can be beautiful to sit down with them and ask them what they’d like you to write for mum. Writing a letter every year from you and your kids is a great keepsake for Mum to re-read when she’s feeling low, or to reminisce over these very special years.
If your partner is pregnant, it can be a perfect moment to express how you're feeling, and your hopes and dreams for your future family. One day you'll be able to look back and remember this moment and how you felt. It is so special.
Happy Mothers Day from Milk and Love!
Wishing all of the special mothers out there a wonderful day to celebrate their families and their amazing role as a mother. We are all so blessed.
